Jose Matos Cosme
multidisciplinary designer
Commencing his journey as a multidisciplinary designer in the Art Industry in 2008, Cosme has worked for companies such as the Ricky Martin Foundation, the Sy-Fy Channel, and Pepsi. Within these, his positions ranged from graphic designer, art director, and set dresser to prop master, set designer, motion graphic designer, and art lead man.
His involvement in the Arts began in 2002, when he started his Bachelor's in Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico to then later transfer to Florida Atlantic University and continue his degree. During 2010 he decided to transfer to Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, from which he graduated with a Bachelor's in Digital Design and Science. Since then, he has continued studying different methods of design, focusing on history and the stylistic tendencies of different cultures.
Cosme returned to Puerto Rico in 2012, when he first began working as a Creative Digital Designer for Ideático Group Inc., a small agency in which he worked alongside Creative Director Luis Pérez from SER Puerto Rico and the Ricky Martin Foundation. Presented by various opportunities, he collaborated as a producer, graphic designer, creative designer, set designer and Art Director, with campaigns such as Camina Conmigo (2012-2014), Embeleco Day (2012-2014), Sacacorcho (2012-2013), Paladeo (2013), and RMF Torneo de Golf (2013). Additionally, he was a producer and segment manager during the Facebook-televised Teletón de Ser de Puerto Rico (2012), as well as an Art Director for the TRATA Humana Pavilion (2012, 2013) from the Ricky Martin Foundation. The latter was an art exhibition about human trafficking, first done as a Digital EXPO and then turned into a hybrid exposition between art installations and digital sets.
After culminating his work with Ideático Group Inc., by the end of 2014 he extended his expertise within the Puerto Rican film industry. Since then, he has had the opportunity to work as a graphic designer, set dresser, set designer and prop master; And as a production designer and art director in productions such as Trail of Ashes (2020), a Puerto Rican production filmed entirely within the island, 5 Headed Shark Attack (2017), a Sy-Fy film intended for Shark Week, Eco (short film) now selected at Cine Festival de Brazil and New Renaissance Film Festival in Amsterdam.
He has, additionally, been a creative designer for clients such as CCM, Asset Agency, Banco Popular, Amadeus Bistro & Bar, Touro, El Viejo Almacen, Milanga, and Secarelli, and worked on televised commercials for companies such as Pepsi, Domino’s Pizza, McDonalds, and Church’s Chicken.
At the same time, he has managed to develop and cultivate his skills within the music industry as an art director for artists such as Ozuna, Rauw Alejandro, Cautty, Mora, and others.
Presently, he remains as a Freelance Designer, a title through which he gains the opportunity to collaborate and work for any artist and company, within the design industry, seeking his skills and assets.
